State And Market The Political Economy of Turkey in Comparative Perspective

State And Market The Political Economy of Turkey in Comparative Perspective

The book consists of twenty-seven articles on political economy that have been written over the course of a decade, ranging from the mid-1980s to the present. The essays have been presented in a chronological order giving the reader a sense of unity, linking the apparently isolated pieces together. There exists, however, an overriding theme running through the collection of essays, namely a highly critical and yet constructive engagement with neoliberalism, the dominant paradigm of our times, both at a broad conceptual level and also at the level of practical economic policy reform. Another common theme that binds the essays together is the strong belief in the analytical value of a comparative-historical perspective. The reader will discover that whilst the majority of essays deal with the political economy of state intervention and the reform process in Turkey.
