The early 20th-century Sanskrit scholar Jean Philippe Vogel utilized photography as a way of documenting the art and architecture of the Indian subcontinent. These 150 sepia images reveal the Dutchman to have been an extremely proficient photographer, capturing the land and its people in crisp, documentary detail.
