The Tsars and the East Gifts from Turkey and Iran in the Moscow Kremlin

This exhibition catalog features 65 extraordinary objects from Iran and Turkey now housed in the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin—gifts to the Grand Dukes of Muscovy and the tsars of 15th- to 17th-century Russia to gain their political support. Several of these beautiful objects—swords, ceremonial maces, icons, and many fine accoutrements for the horse—have never been outside Russia, and the exhibition marks their only display in the United States.
